Invisalign especially helps adults access orthodontic treatment like never before, as the near transparent aligners are removable and very discreet to wear. At Hampstead Dental we can offer you this easy and effective procedure to straighten your teeth at an affordable price. Due to the successful cases we have seen, our dental practice has now been recognised as a leading Invisalign clinic in the area.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a very popular Clear Aligner brand based in USA. This treatment combines Orthodontic principles with Digital technology to correct certain types of malocclusion. The aligners do have to be worn 20-22 hours per day for the treatment to be effective, and only removed when you eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. It gradually shifts the teeth into their new position where you can enjoy your new smile in a shortest amount of time.

Invisalign can be a fantastic option for adults but also for teenagers who are searching or a subtle way to straighten their teeth and without interrupting their busy lives. Invisalign is not limited to certain treatment cases and can see great results for both simple to complex case.

How it works?

Invisalign repositions your teeth by using a set of customised clear aligners. You will have these aligners for both your upper and lower teeth. They are virtually invisible and fitted to you with the help of a 3D scanner. The scanner will take thousands of images of your smile to map out the current placement of the teeth. It will then make a plan to move your teeth into an ideal position. You will be given different aligners to wear which you will change every 1-2 weeks from the comfort of your home. Each time you change aligners it is slightly differently shaped to encouraged your teeth to straighten. Your dentist may advise that you will need attachments. Attachments are small tooth-coloured dots that are made of a composite filling material that are bonded on to certain teeth. These are like anchors that help the aligners gentle move the teeth into a correct position. These attachments are what help move teeth, especially teeth that are in more complex positions without using of metal or brackets

What to Expect

steps
  • Step 1 Consultation / Smile view scan
Treatment begins with a consultation with a certified Invisalign provider. They will start but discussing your new smile. A recent comprehensive dental examination is necessary to rule out any preexisting dental conditions and assess suitability prior to commencing any orthodontic/ Invisalign treatment. At Hampstead dental we have a Smile View stimulator that will give you a picture of what your new smile will look like after the treatment, it helps you imagine the change and see if Invisalign is the right decision for you.
If you are suitable for the Invisalign procedure your dental profession will then book you in for a more accurate impression of your teeth using the 3D technology scanner and take a set of photos. Using this data, Invsialign will approve your treatment and then start to manufacture your customised set of Invisalign aligners.
  • Step 2 Start the transformation
Your first set of Invisalign retainers will be ready to wear around 2-4 weeks after your scan. Your dentist will examine these aligners and ensure they are comfortable and have a good fit. Once you are happy with them, you will then wear your retainers for 22 hours a day. This first set you will be instructed to wear until asked to change into a new set by your referring dentist. Usually it recommended to change over aligners every 1- 2 weeks. At Hampstead Dental we will organise to see you for appointments every 6-8 weeks for follow-up and to track the movement of your teeth.
  • Step 3 Your new smile!
Now you can enjoy your new straight beautiful smile. Many of our Invisalign packages come with complimentary whitening kit which you can also use at this stage to help brighten your beautiful straight smile.
  • Step 4 Keep Lasting results
You’ve transformed your smile now it is time to maintain and keep this smile for life. Invsialign have their own set of special retainers they manufacture to help keep the smile you have achieved(Vivera retainers). They are very strong and will stop further movement and relapse of the teeth. These can be ordered for an additional fee or our in house made retainers can be used to help retain your teeth. The retainers may need to be periodically renewed at a small additional fee.

Benefits of Invisalign

Here are some advantages of Invisalign and how they can work wonders for you.

  • Virtually Transparent
  • Comfort of wear
  • Removable
  • Predictable

Invisalign clear aligners are thin clear plastic aligners that are not noticeable when wearing them and they do not detract from your face or your smile. This makes them the most sought after for adults who want to live their lives without the brackets and wires associated with traditional metal braces.

Made up of special smooth plastic, Invisalign trays are much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. Not only are they less irritating to the soft tissues in your mouth, but they also make a significantly safer alternative to wear. This comes down to the fact that they do not have sharp or extruding edges that can potentially cause nicks and cuts on your lips, cheeks, and tongue, unlike braces.

Invisalign allows for a safe and seamless experience with wear. Since Invisalign trays are removable, you can opt to remove them whenever you’re eating, brushing your teeth, or for everyday conveniences. Are you in sports? Don’t worry, you can then choose to remove your Invisalign aligners at will without compromising the effects. However, you must wear these trays at least 22 hours a day for quick and effective treatment.

One of the greatest merits of Invisalign and other clear aligners is that there is better predictability with these treatment processes. Fabricated using 3D oral scanning, you’re able to visualise the end result at your first appointment even before the treatment has begun. This allows you to be more in control of your oral health and to be excited about the outcomes.

Here are some advantages of Invisalign and how they can work wonders for you.

  • Less dental visits
  • Easier to keep clean
  • They boost your self-confidence
  • The Invisalign Difference

Metal braces require a lot more frequent visits to the dentist for tightening the rubber bands or wires. By choosing Invisalign, you’ll be able to make fewer dental visits as we only need to see you every 6-8 weeks. In addition, Invisalign orthodontic treatment has also shown to work significantly faster than braces do because they are better controlled.

It is recommended that you remove your Invisalign aligner trays while brushing or flossing your teeth. This helps you efficiently clean your teeth as well as the trays with warm water. Invisalign allows for easy brushing and flossing as there is no wires or brackets getting in the way of cleaning your teeth.

Since Invisalign clear aligners are fundamentally invisible, they work well in social settings where traditional metal braces might be embarrassing to wear. You no longer need to feel self-conscious about your smile while straightening your teeth.

Only invsialign clear aligners are made from SmartTrack material, so they are more comfortable and easier to put on and take off˜. Invisalign clear aligners are BPA free, phthalate-free, and biocompatible. Your aligners will be specially customized to fit your gumline seamlessly.

Want to achieve a straight smile along with all of these benefits? Invisalign helps you achieve a fabulous smile without pain or discomfort. Choose to get your Invisalign aligners at Hampstead Dental. We offer the best Invisalign aligners in Melbourne all at affordable prices. Contact us to book an appointment.

It’s important to know that a completed Invisalign treatment does not necessarily mean aligned teeth forever. This is because teeth have a tendency to resume to their previous natural positions. Hence it’s important to continue wearing your retainers, which will be provided to you post your treatment.

Alongside wearing retainers, maintaining optimal oral health is also recommended to preserve your new smile. We advise regular 6-month check-ups and cleans to ensure your oral health is professionally maintained.

Safe and Optimum results

At Hampstead Dental, we believe in ethical and responsible caregiving. Our professionalism and medical ethics forbid us from recommending any treatment unless we are confident that the desired result can be safely achieved. This is why we will always assess your smile first. As your Invisalign journey begins, we will regularly monitor your progress to ensure appropriate adjustments and professional medical advice is awarded to ensure safe and optimum results. At Hampstead Dental, we are with patients from start to finish, offering supporting all throughout your treatment journey.

FAQ's

Why Invisalign?

Invisalign is known for being discreet and convenient. Its smart track materials help straighten teeth predictably, which means no guesswork. The aligners are also customized to fit around your teeth and hence are more comfortable than other traditional orthodontic measures. You can even see results in as little as a few weeks!

How long will my Invisalign treatment take?

Each case is different and so depending on the complexity of your case, you could complete your Invisalign journey in as little as 6 months. Some patients even start to see results in a matter of weeks! When you see us at your free Invisalign consultation, we will be able to give you a better idea.

Invisalign vs braces. What’s right for me?

Your dentist will assess your case to see whether Invisalign or traditional braces are a suitable option for you. There have been some instances, where patients with severe crowding have even required a combination of both Invisalign and traditional orthodontic treatments. Book your free Invisalign consultation with us, to see what treatment option is best for you. This free consultation will be with one of our Invisalign certified dentists.

Can I go to any dental practice for Invisalign?

There are a lot of dentists that are Invisalign-trained but some are not. Any dentist that wants to offer Invisalign treatment and procedures must do special training and complete a Invisalign training course. At Hampstead dental you will be treated by a fully trained and qualified Invisalign dentist.

Can I eat normally when I have Invisalign?

Yes, you can eat all foods. There are no restrictions to what you can or cannot eat. Just remember that your aligners are clear and so you might want to avoid them staining or starting to look yellow. We recommended that you only drink water when you have your aligners in, and remove your aligners when eating or drinking any other food.

When can I remove my aligners?

You can remove your aligners when you are eating or brushing your teeth. We recommended that you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day to ensure optimal results.

Do I sleep with my Invisalign aligners in?

Yes, definitely.

What is the best way to clean the aligners?

It is best to clean your aligners with a separate toothbrush and rinse them in lukewarm water. Avoid hot water as you don’t want to distort your aligner. Also try and use a different toothbrush to the one you use to brush your teeth, this will prevent bacterial cross contamination.

What if my aligners break?

If your aligners break for some reason, check how far into wearing them you are. If you only have 1-2 days until you swap into new aligners, you could first try on the next size up and see if they fit early. However, if you are still concerned, call and book an appointment with your dentist to assess the situation.

How long will the treatment be?

The length of treatment is dependent on how simple or complex your case is. Simple cases are finished within 3- 6 months and the complex causes will be 12-18 months long. The length of treatment may also differ depending on how often you wear your Invisalign aligners. You need to wear them at least 20-22 hours a day to finish on your proposed end date.

How often do I change my Invsialign aligners?

You should change your aligners on average every one to two weeks. Your Invisalign dentist will let you know how long to wear your aligners as it does depend on your specific treatment plan. This will help correct your teeth position at a manageable time frame and give you the best results.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the treatment time?

Wearing your aligners for at least 20-22 hours will help move your teeth faster which will help accelerate your treatment timeframe. There are also special Invisalign chewies you can bite down on for around 10 minutes a day. This helps the aligners fit tightly on your teeth and will increase the movement. This can also increase the chance you will finish your treatment early or on time.

What are Invisalign attachments?

Invisalign attachments are small tooth coloured dots of filling material that are glued to your teeth. These attachments serve as little anchors for the aligners to attach to and help make your treatment more effective. Not everyone needs attachments and your Invisalign dentist will tell you if any phase of your treatment will need attachments.

Is Invisalign painful?

No, Invisalign is not a painful treatment. However, the initial process of moving the teeth can give you discomfort for a couple of days when you are wearing a new aligner. It might feel similar to someone who gets braces on and feels the pressure of the teeth moving. Some other people will experience tenderness in their teeth or jaw. The aligners are trying to move your teeth into an ideal position.
