What to Expect When Getting Dentures

Getting dentures requires a minimum of two appointments. At the first appointment, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and discuss what you would like for your denture. This information is sent to our laboratory where your dentures are fabricated. At your second appointment, we’ll have gotten your denture back from the laboratory. We’ll fit your new denture to you and make sure that you’re pleased with the way it appears. It may take up to a couple of weeks to get used to the way it feels.

In some cases, it may be necessary to have some teeth extracted before you can get your denture. We can complete your extractions comfortably, then allow the area to heal before we start on creating your denture.

Implant-Supported Dentures

More and more, our patients are opting to have dentures that are attached to a number of dental implants. These titanium posts are inserted into your jawbone. The jawbone accepts them as it would a normal tooth root. After the implant site has healed, we can create a denture to be affixed to the implants.
