Have you ever heard of the phrase, “You’re the richest person in the world if you possess a beautiful smile”? It seems as though most individuals have taken this to heart. From dental commercials to fashion magazines, we’re all driven to become obsessed with a bright and white smile.

Some of us instead have pale or yellowing teeth, which can lower our self-esteem. Luckily, teeth whitening is an easy and affordable solution. As a matter of fact, teeth whitening has been revealed as the most famously sought-after dental cosmetic procedure in the world!

Have you tried doing it yourself? The Australian Dental Association (ADA) found out that not all people are doing teeth whitening at a dental office. Almost 50% of consumers are buying whitening do-it-yourself (DIY) kits to brighten their smiles. This DIY approach doesn’t always work and may also cause damage to your teeth if not done correctly. At Hampstead Dental in Melbourne, we offer brilliant teeth whitening procedures that are safe, effective, and affordable!

What is Zoom in-office teeth-whitening?

Professional Zoom whitening is a bleaching process that uses a type of laser treatment to lighten discoloration of the enamel and dentin. Tooth discolouration can emerge as a result of excessive consumption of wine, tea, coke, red wine or smoking. This in-office whitening procedure makes use of a hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel to dissolve and remove stains on your teeth.

How does Zoom teeth whitening work?

The Zoom whitening kit comes with a dental bleaching agent. A high concentration of hydrogen peroxide is formulated into this bleaching gel, allowing it to get rid of all the stains in the enamel. When the gel is applied onto the tooth surface, the active peroxide component prepares the top layer of the tooth and begins to release oxygen bubbles. With the use of a special high-intensity light from the lamp, the gel is further able to penetrate the enamel and emit oxygen into the dentin. These oxygen bubbles combine with the staining or colouring matter on the tooth surfaces and absorb the visible light, thus producing a whiter and brighter tooth colour.
